An SDG Pioneer for Fostering Economic Growth and Gender Equality
Waithera Mwai-Ireri is elevating the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) onto the leading edge of corporate sustainability.
As the Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, Waithera has advocated for the incorporation of the Global Goals into NSE’s business strategies and the advancement of SDG 5 on gender equality.
Under her leadership, Waithera and her team developed the NSE Leadership and Diversity Dialogue series tailored to sensitize listed companies on various aspects of leadership and gender equality in relation to firm performance. Through the series, CEOs of listed companies have pledged their commitment to advancing gender equality at all levels of the workplace. Since joining the UN Global Compact in 2016, the NSE has been an active partner with the Kenya Network annually ringing the bell for gender equality during the International Women’s Day.
