Participants at the Bribery Act Seminar

February 23, 2017: A sensitization seminar was held to sensitize businesses on the key provisions of the law as well as discuss strategies to ensure the new law is implemented effectively. The training was attended by 70 participants drawn from the private sector. Speakers included the key government agencies responsible for implementing the law such as the Ethics & Anti-corruption Commission, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Office of the Attorney General & Department of Justice.

The Bribery Act 2016 is a recently enacted Act of Parliament to provide for the prevention, investigation and punishment of bribery. The Act came into force on 13th January 2017, it places obligations on public and private entities to put in place procedures that are appropriate to their size, scale and nature of operations, for prevention of bribery and corruption.
